Multiple Mechanical Errors

Improved Essays
I have never been the student that gets all A’s in my English classes. My writings have multiple mechanical errors, and my sentences don’t always make sense. However, in my essays what I am trying to say has potential to be pretty good. College English is different than the AP Language and Composition class I took my senior year of high school. I learned more about my writing and steps I can take to make sure my essays are the best they can be.

I have always had one major problem with my writing. Getting the words from my brain to my computer or paper. I focus way too much on trying to make the words sound extremely intelligent. I start to lose focus on grammar and sentence structure. I have learned that reading over my essay and peer edits can help me to catch some of the errors. I also have found some website can help me look for those little mistakes in my essay. This hasn’t been an easy problem to fix but I am getting better.

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

I knew that college writing standards were way much higher than writing standards back in high school. Because the standards were much higher, I had no idea how to reach that standard on my essays. It was quite obvious. The reason why I didn’t know how to write a satisfactory college essay was because I had stopped reading in high school. Once I stopped reading, I missed out on the opportunity of gaining knowledge and information as well as improving my comprehension and analytical skills that I could’ve gained throughout my high school academic years.…
