The US government has proven its commitment of backing Afghan-led peace talks during negotiations with HIG and it also supported Afghans call for peace with the Taliban. But it has repeatedly rejected by Mullah Mansour. After targeting him, the US leaderships said that one of the reasons that Mullah Mansour is targeted, because he opposed peace call and John Kerry Secretary of the State clearly said that countering and targeting anyone opposing the peace talks will continue.
