He had a hard time with organization and how he spent his money. This caused him to become a debtor and become an alcoholic. Mozart also failed to impress the Emperor. He played musical pieces that were forbidden in court but demands to play his work and that leads to his disappointment. The Emperor was not always impressed with his work. The Emperor told Mozart in the film, “you have a lot of passion but you do not persuade”. Since Mozart did not follow directions and went against the Emperor’s wishes, Salieri took advantage of this. He found ways to diminish Mozart’s music in front of the Emperor and the general public. As seen in the film, the relationship between talent and success is that Mozart’s talent was God gifted and no matter how hard Salieri tried he was unable to replicate his musical pieces. Success in the film is measured by hard work and consistency but economic security comes from how well you represent yourself. Even though Mozart’s looks did not match his talent, he was blessed with the skill to master music. No one could achieve his mind’s ability to process information. In today’s modern world, talent is overshadowed. For example, we can use a company that has hundreds of talented employees with special skills. And bonuses and promotions are based on work performance. But a co- worker (similar to Salieri) can be full of jealousy and hatred towards your talents. This co worker can be bad mouthing your boss and that can lead to disagreements at work. You may not receive the bonus or promotion you deserve because someone has overshadowed your hard work and diminished your presence in the office. Talent is often God gifted, but if you fail to represent your talents properly, that alone can hinder your
