Movie Analysis: Ant-Man

Ant-Man is the textbook example of a typical Marvel superhero movie. It follows the basic, chronological three act structure that includes every cliché plot point in the book, all squeezed into a two hour blockbuster that any Marvel fan is sure to love.
It covers everything from the anti-hero, an evil scientist, an elaborate break in, training montages, martial arts, fist fights, inspiring speeches, emotion, betrayal and of course, a heist. All this riddled with comedic moments and self-references to its semi-ridiculousness Ant hero.
With Marvel essentially running the box office, there’s no doubt that they have found what works, and have stuck to it. While Ant-Man doesn’t deliver any new artistic film style, the storyline provides several

It’s almost subtle foreshadowing set up the film in a way so that the audience wasn’t lost at any point. There were no boring or dull moments and the comedy balanced out any scenes that could be deemed too serious for the light hearted feel the film was clearly going for.
The exciting action fight scenes throughout the film broke up the ‘set up scenes’ that were leading up to the final climax of the film, in order to keep the audience satisfied with the action to set up ratio.
Because the script called for typical stock characters, it is hard to say anyone stood out in their role or couldn’t be replaced by a similar actor. Having said that, each of the main characters were well casted and provided adequate and convincing portrayals in their performances.
Despite a cliché premise, predictable plot points, ordinary acting performances, typical music scores and lack of a recognisably unique style, Marvel has somehow has found the secret to making a highly enjoyable film without taking any noticeable risks unlike many films of the same rating.
Ant-Man is exactly what is expected from Marvel and although it appears they won’t be taking any risks or changing up their basic style, you are guaranteed to be entertained and blown

Director Ridley Scott's science fiction film 'The Martian' slammed the box office over the weekend with a healthy $55 million. The film nearly surpassed the 2013 science fiction thriller film directed and produced by Alfonso Cuarón, 'Gravity.' As the Gravity film has the highest-grossing October debut in history. The reviews that expressed great pleasure over the film strengthened Ridley Scott's released of The Martian, as the critics also called the movie among the director's best and heaped admiration on the performance of Matt Damon as an astronaut stranded on Mars.…

In conclusion, the latest film ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ (2014) has advanced in motion picture (CGI), which made the film more realistic and fitted into pop culture. It also captured audience’s eyes in some scenes and brought to light modern society conditions relating to human corruptions. The original ‘Planet of the Apes’ (1968) script structure was not creditable and lost interest throughout the storyline, such as visual effects (CGI) and lack of performance, which lead to a parody genre film rather then being a serious science fiction genre film. There were also some unneeded characters and other storytelling methods to present the narrative because it bored the audience and made it more of a Mockumentary. The twist conflict at the…

It is bad because of three main reasons: it has a poor storyline and script, failed to meet expectations, and does not hook the attention of the audience. Antman is a movie about a man named Scott Lang who goes by the superhero alias Antman. This is because he has a special suit that allows him to shrink in size and become the size of an ant. This power allows him to infiltrate high security buildings, gives him super strength, and allows…

Third cinema is heavily influenced by Neorealism, and in the film Battle of Algiers it is very present. The opening of the movie for example when the man is forced to wear the military uniform and expose the man in the wall and his family in hiding , lays out a narrative of a current conflict with the militia and the citizens of the town. Which is an example of both third cinema and neorealism, because one of the traits of both is that there is some type of political or social issue occurring which is shown in that seen. Another direct influence of neorealism shown is the location.…

The first film in my opinion fails the Bechdel test. Although there are plenty female characters in Cinderella (2015) who talk to one another about something other than men, if you were to applying the 60 second conversation rule, the test does not pass. Cinderella and her mother had a heartfelt conversation but not one that related to the plot, instead, Cinderella mostly talks to animals. In the movie Cinderella says “we ladies must help one another”, I felt this line was ironic since she was talking to an animal and not woman character. In terms of the Race Bechdel test, the movie straight out fails since there are no coloured people who talk to one another.…

Marvel is finally taking steps to bring X-Men back into the spotlight after years of constant neglect presumably stemmed by their lack of motion pictures rights. The one biggest complaint about Marvel right now is that their universe is too big and spinning out of control. Guggenheim brings X-Men: Gold back to the basics focusing on a team dynamic vs the regular people in New York. We get the sense of this trying to revert to the basics with a TV personality ranting about the X-Men. We start off with Kitty Pryde leading X-Men Gold team (Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Prestige, Old Man Logan) against Terrax.…

Marvel vs. DC style For ages, comic book fans have argued who would win in a fight between the Avengers and the Justice League. Although, these movie franchises make similar superhero movies, the style and success of their movies are very different. Since 2008, when Marvel released Iron Man into their elaborate “marvel cinematic universe”, Marvel has dominated the box office. After the producers at Warner Brothers saw the success that came with Marvel’s movie universe, they tried to begin their own movie universe with Superman man of steel in 2014.…

In Deadpool (2016), Ryan Reynolds plays a character called Wade Wilson, also known as the superhero Deadpool. The film follows the life of Deadpool and the many adversities he faces, such as finding out he has cancer, having to leave his girlfriend, and going through an extremely painful treatment. It also shows the entertaining parts of his life where he is a hit man, and his many drunken experiences. This superhero challenges the traditional hero narrative because although he helps many people throughout the film, he does not conform to the ideal of a hero. These differences between a usual superhero film and Deadpool make for an interesting twist in the cliché superhero story that viewers are so used to seeing because he doesn’t want fame…

Fincher’s film was the third entry in the Alien franchise following the critically acclaimed films Alien and Aliens directed by Ridley Scott and James Cameron, respectively. Unfortunately, Alien 3 was poorly received by moviegoers, as well as Fincher himself. There was studio interference in the making of Alien 3, so much so that Fincher has disowned the film and to this day still does not consider it his film. David Fincher considers his true directorial debut to be Seven, released in 1995 (Mockenhaupt, "The Curious Case of David Fincher.").…
