We all spent 9 months in our mother’s womb. For some of us, the whole process goes according to plan but for others, one small change can cause dramatic results. When someone has a genetic condition, that means that something went wrong while they were developing in the womb. I can name three genetic conditions that result from a problem in early development.
This first condition occurs at 2 weeks and 5 days. It’s called big baby syndrome and it happens when two copies of the fathers growth gene goes into the fetus. This gene tells the body to grow bigger and bigger. As a result, the baby is abnormally large and its cells reproduce quicker too, which puts it at a higher risk for cancer. The rapidly reproducing cells can cause tumors.
