“It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish,” once said Mother Teresa. Pondering this quote, it was captivating in the way that Mother Teresa made a strong statement, with such simplicity. In general, abortion is where you terminate a baby before pregnancy can occur. People should not be able to abort their child. To see this thoroughly, we have to explore the reasoning of how this conclusion came to be. Women are trying to perform their own abortions, abortions can lead to premature birth of a future child, and these women are more prone to committing suicide. No doubt, there is a lot more to discuss on this topic. For now, we are going to look at women who are trying to perform illegal abortions on themselves.

Certainly, suicide involves taking your own life. In a 1996 Finland study, data records showed that, “women who had an abortion were about 5.9 times more likely to commit suicide in the year following this event than women who delivered a child.” Noticeably, there were other similar cases. In a California study in 2001, it showed that “women who had an abortion were about 2.5 times more likely to commit suicide within the 8 years following this event than women who delivered a child.” Was this possibly by a coincidence? After doubts and concerns, the California study revised their work and did not involve women who had psychiatric problems prior to the abortion. As expected, the results did not change very much. Moreover, it increased to “3.3 times more likely to commit suicide in the eight years following this event than women who delivered a child.” Without a doubt, suicide can lead to a lot of emotional pain for family and friends, so we want to prevent this from happening as best as we can. Hence, people should not be able to abort their child so that we can preserve both infant and adult
