One of the fastest growing religions in the world is Mormonism or also known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is the fourth largest Christian religion in America. This religion was founded on September 21st, 1823 by Joseph Smith. Smith was said to be visited by the angel “Moroni” meaning son of Mormon. The angel appeared to him three different times and Joseph Smith was chosen to translate the Book of Mormons also known as “golden plates”. On September 22nd, 1827 Smith received the golden plates and began translating them. The Book of Mormons was officially published in 1830. Mormons believe in the plurality of gods and polygamy, meaning men having many wives.

1. God was once a mortal man who lived on another planet. They consider this to be the most important teaching of Mormonism. They believe God lived on another planet and followed the laws of the gospel. After he died he evolved into a God and created this world. 2. They are co-eternal with God. They believe that everyone has existed forever, that we existed as intelligences and have been around God for all of eternity, God has simply progressed ahead of us. 3. The origin of Jesus Christ. They believe God was a man, and that Jesus was created by the physical union of God and Mary. They say that Jesus is special because his father is a God and ours are just human. 4. Truth is determined by feelings. Mormons disregard any facts that fight what they are feeling. If they feel bad when hearing something then it is false, if they feel good then it is true. 5. What a Prophet said can be revised depending on the circumstances. If what a Prophet says is wrong, he was not being inspired and only speaking as a man. Newer Prophets can override old Prophets. 6. Saving their dead ancestors shows they are the only Christian Church. They believed they have temples that they are allowed into to become Gods. They also baptize dead people so they can become Mormon. 7. Ex-Mormons or apostates had sin in their life or never had a testimony. If apostates had a testimony they were cast into the darkness.
