Louis was born on April 25, 1215 in the castle of Poissy near Paris. He was crowned king at age twelve, within a month of his father’s death. Louis would be going into the house of the Lord. It was believed that on the day he died, he surrendered his soul to God. Louis was seen as a very Christian figure. In 1297, 27 years after his death, he was canonized by Pope Boniface VIII. King Louis was then known as Saint Louis

Lord. His actions changed the way his people viewed the king. This perception continued long after Louis’s reign, and may still be thought of today (Fitzhenry). He set a big example across all of France by doing small duties to please God. King Louis IX’s passion for Christ made a huge influence to others, and he is still known for his works today
