The modifiable risk factors for mental disorders are physical inactivity, substance abuse, low self-esteem, distress, and negative lifestyle behaviors. The two modifiable risk factors in my opinion that we can address to improve mental health in our country are physical inactivity and substance abuse. Physical activity is shown to have many benefits for chronic diseases but also has many benefits in increasing mood and overall perception of quality of life. When you feel good about yourself, your mental state should hopefully improve as well. Decreasing substance abuse including alcohol will also help improve mental health issues. An idea is using the media, we see the smoking commercials and personally that makes me not want to smoke. We should
