Macbeth, Lennox, Ross, the Lord's and I are at the dining table. The guest we have this evening, including me, are a bit weary. Ross, Lennox, and all of the Lords are looking. Soon they will be asking questions. Who is he talking to? Is this a game? Is he fit to rule? Has he lost his mind? Macbeth’s lost his composure now. He seems to be talking like he knows the ghost. Must it be? Banquo, here now? No, it must be one of my husbands fits. He is always like this when hallucinations appear.
Asking him so only he can hear, “Are you a man? Act like one! These outbursts don’t even look like real fear let alone like you’re talking to Banquo! You’re making a fool of yourself! Think of the guests!” He tells me that he’s speaking to Banquo and that I need to see for myself, which in this case there is nothing there but thin air. He goes on about how he saw him standing there and he’s not crazy. He spouts about the “ancient times” and how if you had someone killed they would stay dead, not come haunt you like a dog craving to see it’s master one last
