The sun was setting on a radiant spring day. Oso and the cubs were out fishing in the stream and gathering berries. Their fur coats hanging over their skin and patchy still from hibernation. The cubs were frolicking around the bushes and the stream while Oso tried to get their attention. The river was ice cold and the cubs were on the verge of slumber because of the long day they had. They had begun the march back to the cave when Oso heard something eerie in the distance. Oso's maternal instincts kicked in and the cubs could sense the fear in their mother. A deep howl echoed throughout the canyon which confirmed the terror. The wolves of the north had come down from the mountain to hunt. Lobo and the pack had surrounded Oso and her cubs.

The hard winter had made the wolves desperate for food and forced them down the mountain. There was a look in their eyes that made Oso nervous.
"What do you want? We are going to leave in peace and there's not going to be any trouble." Oso felt the cubs tuck behind her in a frightened panic. The mother bear remained strong and confrontational in her hunched over stance as the wolves began to circle in closer.
"That's what you think, stupid bear." His lips curled back to reveal his canines that hadn't been used to eat in weeks. "This is our mountain and what we say goes. I have never eaten bear before, and I imagine its tender when its young." The wolves were locked in on the cubs. They were nipping and jumping at the legs of each bear. "You can't protect them. I'll prove it…" and just like that, Lobo and two others lunged at Oso's neck. Oso had never had conflict in her life, so she panicked. She pinned one of the wolves down with her paws while the two others attacked her head. Oso channeled her inner bear and
