The industrial revolution created a great deal of these problems. The industrial revolution opened up many new jobs, but conditions in factories were often very poor. In order to produce goods at such a low cost, workers were being paid very low wages and work long hours. These two factors combined created unrest within the lower class and caused strikes and protests. A second problem was child labor, which also became more popular during the industrial revolution. The revolution had made a significant population increase, and because education options for children were somewhat limited they were expected to work. Children were often paid significantly less than adult workers, even though they were almost if not just as productive as the adults. Children were sent to work in mines and the mills. These children would sometimes lose limbs, die, or develop cancer and other serious illnesses from the poor conditions they were under. A third problem was the cost the revolution made to craftsmen. While the industrial revolution did provide many new jobs, it also took away jobs of the skilled craftsmen, especially weavers. These angered and unemployed craftsmen banded together and became known as the Luddites. The first of these is medicine. Medicine is always changing because of the improvement of medical technology, and medical research care. In the near future cancer will be a curable disease and not this unknown looming threat. Quality of life in our older age is always improving, and life expectancy will always be extending. The second is eco-friendliness. Every year our world find new ways to become eco-friendly, by cutting down on our use of resources and finding new alternative energy sources. In the near future we will hopefully be able to rely more own renewable energy and less on fossil fuels which are quickly depleting. We will also find away to make more materials recyclable. These two aspects of modernity will most definitely change.
The movement of modernity has helped to further society in many different ways. It helped to drastically develop and change our world with many positive results like the Industrial Revolution and the Scientific Revolution. These revolutions did have some negative results, but society was able to learn from it.
