Stereotypes are existent in almost every ethnicity. Stereotypes are partial truths that are usually related to race, nationality, or sexuality. These stereotypes are often exaggerated and applied to a whole classification of a group of people. In the past, many Asians were depicted as a yellow peril, a danger to the western world. Today, Asians are frequently portrayed as a beacon of intelligence, that some may consider positive. Specifically, the image of Asian Americans is seen as perfectionists and over-achievers with minimal to none social life. This can be just as restricting and dehumanizing as any other overly exerted negative representation and is also a prime example of Model Minority. Model Minority
