Youth Event Planner

In the world today, there are many young people who are idle, lost, abused, confused, and scorned, hence the reason I choose to become a Youth Event Planner and my research question is “How is event planning effective for Youth Ministries”. According to the International Institute of Event Management (Campbell California USA), there are five common mistakes in event planning and ways to avoid them. Mistake number one is the failure to allocate the right resources, with the right skills; mistake number two is the failure to keep a track of changes to the scope of the event; mistake number three is ignoring Murphy 's Law; mistake number four is the lack of experienced event managers, and mistake number five is simple process mistakes by not following …show more content…
When planning any event, it is important to have a schedule to go by and a back-up plan in the case that something goes wrong. Many times during the year events are postponed due to some error or oversight of the planner, such as: bad weather, flight delays, cancelled guest or entertainer and financial issues. Therefore, there must always be someone or something to hold you to your plan.
When dealing with young ministry events, one must keep in mind that young people are easily distracted and driven away by their own lust. The third mistake we saw is ignoring Murphy’s Law which states “If anything can go wrong, it probably will”. Jason Sansbury, in his article, The Importance of event planning, gave a testimony about a lock-in that could have been a nightmare for him, but it wasn’t because he planned well. He said “A lock-in without a good plan is a recipe for

In my plan I would have a mission statement in place along with biblically based core values to abide by. Furthermore, if an individual seeks employment by my company they must meet certain qualifications and have experience to back it. If hired by my company, my employees will under-go training sessions every year so that they can maintain youthful knowledge and to add to that, my employees will be well treated to keep them motivated about what they do. On the other hand, failure to comply with my rules one will be terminated. Another area that I would like to touch would be having a back-up plan. In my company, I will appoint a team to rationalize the possibilities of negative feedback and conjure up back-up plans so that things run smoothly. Finally, I would try my best to keep God as the focus of my company and progress with the times as the new generations

In keeping with the theme of relinquishing control, I need to take a objective look when it comes to operational, or departmental planning. My mentor, Bruce, once told me "that if our people make up the plan, then the buy in is done. They will not want to let their plan fail.” The concept makes perfect sense, so long as I can let go of the necessity to control every situation.…

I would love to be a member of the senior planning team because the senior planning team helps promote change within the school. I believe, along with many other leadership teams at Alpena High School, the senior planning team is empowered by the staff, administration, and other seniors to make important decisions that powerfully impact the school and senior class. Without the senior planning team, many decisions would be left to the staff/administration to decide and, while this is still an excellent way to accomplish tasks, it removes the student involvement in the school. I am so grateful to have a school that values student input because it teaches its students how to take responsibility for their learning environment. As a member of the…

Yet one interesting problem appeared near the end of my first year in leadership that beckoned me to find a solution. My main goal is to shape young people into disciples filled with Bible knowledge and to help send them out in the world to witness to the unsaved. I plan to do this by combining the discipleship model and the ministry model talked about by Richard R. Dunn in his book, “Reaching A Generation For Christ”. He states that the philosophy of the discipleship model as, “The discipleship model trains students to be God’s people in an ungodly world, equipped with Bible study and prayer skills developed in a caring atmosphere with a view to reproducing their Christian lives in other” (175). This philosophy would be fulfilled by small groups or “trainings” held on a weekly basis. I would like to keep a very close, relational youth group.…

While some people may think of event management as a degree in party planning, it is gaining credibility as a legitimate career. The Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council created event management standards which also led to the definition of exactly what an event is (Robertson, 2015). An event is “a social form that organizes interaction in a distinctive way” or the “gathering of three or more people who agree to assemble for a purpose ostensibly related to the functioning of an organization or group” (Beaulie, 2004). According to Michael Auerbach, “in 2006 there were 51,000 event planners in the U.S. and 39% of those were within an event planning company” which demonstrates the grand size of the industry and its obvious importance to society (2015). The purpose of this paper is to explore a career in event planning.…
