I have had limited experiences working on Battalion Staff and thought I understood Mission Command and the operations process. The last two months in DAO have increased my understanding of both concepts. I will take the lessons learned from this department and will apply them to my future assignments.

During the recent Unit Effectiveness Inspection conducted by the Air Mobility Command’s Inspector General (AMC/IG), the section was found to be overall ineffective, in delivering mission assurance command and control primarily due to inefficient training. While the section as a whole is lacking the required training, through root cause analysis it was determined that this condition existed due to a lack of training among the command post leadership, who are responsible for providing and certifying the internal training requirements.
