Minimum wage in the United States was founded in the year 1938 in the Great Depression when President Franklin Roosevelt was in office. Minimum wage was set at twenty five cents per hour and was increased by the congress at least twenty two times the most ever since the year 2009. In the year 1890 wages of Americans were a total of $380 which was below the poverty line of $500 per year at the time. Some people say that it will help with job growth and help the economy expand. In this topic, this will discuss a few reasoning’s to raise the level of minimum wages. Increasing the minimum wage would reduce the poverty level in the United States. For an example, Colorado’s minimum wage in 2017 is $9.30 an hour and work 40 hours a week with 52 weeks in the year they earn about $19,344 in an entire year which is above the poverty level of less than $10,000 a year. I interviewed my mom and grandma about this topic so I can have something to write about and results were that they both do not support it. I asked why and my grandma thought about and said that we cannot live on those situations as is because everything is already gone up in prices and that she thinks if that happens unions would want more from money from their employees taking unnecessary amounts of their checks to pay union dues which should only be once a month for paychecks at a low time fee. When my mother was asked the
