Military Summer Camp Analysis

How do you feel safe when you hear about your nation’s military? Perhaps the opposite. Nations such as the USA, China and Russia had always had a strong patriotism within their civilians helping them boost a larger, stronger and a better morale military. For this cause many governments have created ways in which they attempt to inspire the underaged population. One of the techniques are through military summer camps. The most famous camps of this category can be found in the USA, Russia, China, South Korea, Israel and Hungary. In these camps kids between the age of 12 to 18 participate in Basic Training, live shooting practice and war-games against each …show more content…

Hungary has been criticized about their lack of attention shown to Hungarian Defense Forces or called Honvédelem. Many statistics show that the criticism has truth behind it. The Hungarian Military overall, counting the Air Force, Special Forces, etc… have overall 20,000 personnel of a nation that has just under 10 million as their population. Not mentioning the military budget of 1.03 Billion US Dollars. Also not mentioning that the Hungarian Ground Forces use 1960s. The Hungarian Air Force also uses 1970’s era aircraft. Looking at neighboring Austria, which has a population of 8.4 million, they put 2.7 million US Dollars and uses some of the most modern weaponry. Austria has such opportunity due to being one of the largest manufacturers of weapons worldwide, which are Glock, Steyr and Mannlicher. An example of the rising tension nations could be

Child soldiering has become a way of war. This horrendous practice of exploiting children is caused by the need to economically benefit one’s country by appropriating the efficiency of being able to condition children from an early age. The effects include post traumatic disorder, mental health issues, medical issues, the list goes on, and much about this experience can be observed in the book, “A Long Way Gone,” by Ishmael Beah. A child soldier is a person under eighteen years old serving in arms.…

As far as I can remember, when I was a young child I absolutely adored all animals and creatures, I could never let my dad kill the bugs in our house because “Mr. Spider has a family to go home to and they will worry and starve” now that I think about it, moving him outside was no better, but I could never imagine myself killing anything. When comparing my childhood to those who grew up in Orson Scott Card’s novel Ender’s Game It is about as black and white as you can get. The children were trained from the very start of their school years to think like they are in the military. Everything they learned was to befit them if they were to be in control of an army.…

One controversial issue over the past couple of years has been the topic of child soldiers. On one side, people argue that child soldiers should be prosecuted. On the other hand, others contend that they should be given amnesty. My own view is that child soldiers should be given forgiveness for what they have done because they were forced into killing, they were manipulated, and they only had one choice once they entered the army: Kill or be killed. When villages are attacked and families are taken away for children, they don’t know any better and they believe that the commanders are the adults that they should trust.…

Growing up in the military, allows me to personally witness this positive growth in character through myself and through my fellow military brats; moreover, it allows me to witness the false view on us military brats and how those negative views personally affect the way military children view themselves. Many people look at military families with sympathy and look down on the children who experience the challenges that the life-style brings; however, very few people look at these kids with admiration and see their strength. Through the constant moving, deployments, and supportive community, military children demonstrate to other kids around them that they are not just military brats who are "broken," but that they have positive characteristics that come from being in the military. Viewing these positive characteristics in the military children allows them to view themselves in a more positive…

Usually though, these children don’t even want to escape because they have been made dependant on their commanders for drugs, food and emotional support.
