The Untold Consequences of War The act of war is one that has been around since the beginning of time. Natural thirst for conquest and the pride of defending one’s nation is often the encouragement most individuals have before enlisting in the military. The consequences of a war are vague or left unstated, but enlistees generally know the dangerous aspects surrounding it. By signing an agreement, citizens hand over their life to the military. Their safety is now dependent primarily upon military officials and each respected branch. Soldiers often experience traumatic events within their time in service. “Impact of Gender on Reactions to Military Sexual Assault and Harassment,” is web journal that informs the public about the impact of sexual assault and harassment, regardless of one’s gender. Identifying sexual assault and harassment in the military as an important area of concern for social workers. Margret E. Bell, Jessica A. Turchik, and Julie A. Karpenko, explore the experiences related to each gender, the recovery from military harassment and sexual assault, and the common issues associated with each gender.
The journal “Impact of Gender on Reactions to Military Sexual Assault and Harassment” clarifies that sexual assault and harassment is not associated with just the female gender, but with both the male and female gender. By utilizing this research collected, I will provide the reader a view of the life of a soldier going through such abusive and manipulative events.
