1. I am writing this letter in order to clearly justify why I do not plan on competing in the Soldier of the Quarter (SOQ) Board.

2. As you know, I am currently pregnant in my third trimester. Pregnancy may not prohibit me from competing in the board itself, but there are also other events that I cannot participate in. At the time of this letter, I have less than two months of pregnancy. Once I give birth, I will be on convalescent leave for three months.

3. Other than pregnancy, I do not wish to further my career in the military. I have an estimated Expiration – Term of Service (ETS) date of 05 Nov 2017. This board would be helpful to me if I chose to reenlist or advance my military career. Since I will be departing from the army in less than eight months, I believe attending this board will not aid me in my transition out of the army.

Two of the three months, I will be on terminal leave. With my last month left in the army, I plan to continue fulfilling everyday duties as well as out-process.

5. I understand that the SOQ Board is meant for soldiers to better themselves as well as to help them progress in their career, but I do not plan to advance in the army. Nevertheless, I find that it is best to allow others the opportunity to do so.

“Membership in National Junior Honor Society has become recognized as one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a junior high school student. Membership is, however, more than an honor; it carries with it a responsibility and should be considered the beginning of an obligation, not merely the successful culmination of an effort to achieve recognition and honor.” Not only because it’s an honor or a recognition, but I would like to be a part of NJHS because I’m very responsible and I love helping people and community service. I worked in a sales related field for over sixteen years. Some of the successful National Guard recruiters I worked with had big outgoing personalities while others were more reserved. Some of those that were really successful had the big personalites, but some of the more reserved recruiters also were very successful. That pattern worked both ways as there were also failures on both sides of the personality scale. Deeter-Schmelz, D., & Sojka, J. (2007), indicated that there are no conclusions that one personality type would be more successful than another when it comes to sales.…
