Military Officer Relationships

In the military, most jobs require availability twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. In order to make friends and prevent loneliness, relationships have to form. The military encourages officer to officer relationships along with enlisted to enlisted but no officer to enlisted. Many people both inside and outside the military feel officer relationships simply will not allow a unit to function properly. Two adults in the military cannot date because it, “will cause problems in a unit -- it's simply a matter of time” (Schlosser). The military bans relationships based on assumptions and previous mishaps. It believes a job has more priority than a lover.
