Why I Would Be Honored To Lay Wreaths At Arlington On a day to day basis most of us in the US take for granted freedom and the price soldiers paid for our freedom. The thought of freedom has become normal.We forget the luxury of freedom and not how it used to be and the price that was paid. The thousands of people were not forced to fight, they were given a choice.We don't have to be afraid to go places; school, church, or even voice our opinions. Many gave up their lives to protect the people they loved. Many of the members in my family have and are serving in the military. Whether them being doctors, ministers, marines, air force, army, or counseling many people in my family have served for our country. My grandfathers on both sides, seven of my cousins, my great grandfather, five of my aunts and uncles, and many more have all served for our country. Only one of my relatives have died in combat. It would be a huge honor for me to lay a wreath at The Tomb Of The Unknown because I would be able to honor those who lost their lives for us, for me. I could honor the members of my family and others who served to make us free. I would honor the ones who died but we don't know who they are. Even though we don't know them, it doesn't mean they don't deserve our respect. Seeing and experiencing the horrific, frightening, and shocking feelings and conditions of war deserve respect. To put yourself in the position of fighting in a war deserves I think one of the highest honors I think. Not a lot of people will give up their life, family or friends for others. No one who gives up that much should ever go unnoticed, or unappreciated in life. Those who died nameless weren't given the thank you they deserved and laying a wreath would serve as my “thank you” to them.
