When veterans return from military service, one important avenue of return to cilivan life and career is through higher education. By the year 2020, it is estimated that 5 million service members will leave the service and a large portion of them will be choosing to attend college and universities. The post 9/11 GI Bill enacted in 2009 made it much more assessable for military veterans to attend college, by enacting financial incentives that pay for tuition, textbooks and housing. Important differences in culture and perceptual perspectives exist between student veterans and college personnel. Few college students, staff, faculty, or administrators themselves have military backgrounds so they have no understanding of the challenges veterans…
National Guard pays for your school as well as pays you like a job would. It gives you a head up in school and the medical world, but it can take a little longer for you to finish the degree you are working towards. There's a bill called the G I Bill which pays your tuition or a good chunk and if you are a good student that I need you qualify for it and it pays a really large portion of your tuition. Another perk of being in the national guard and something I was really surprised by is, you can pay in state Tuition even if you just moved out of state, the national guard can get out of state…

Reinstating the Draft During the Vietnam War the public was upset with the military draft policies, even during previous wars there was some debate about the rules. The WWII draft had caused nearly the majority of men that were of age to be sent overseas. Women had to be sent to work leaving families at home and taking over the role of the men. Women were practicing hard labor, putting together planes, weapons, and ammunition; children were even helping. The draft has positive and negative sides, which are constantly being debated by men and women alike.…

Contrasts in Living – Cuba vs. the United States of America An island of great natural splendor and cultural beauty languishes in the Caribbean Sea just 90 miles south of the tip of Florida, directly separating the USA mainland from its own territory of Puerto Rico. This island, called Cuba, was once a popular “playground” for the wealthy Americans who recognized the economic potential of this exciting and intoxicating country. Many considered it a paradise, because of its natural splendor, beautiful Hispanic women, exotic and erotic musical culture, and highly-treasured Havana cigars and island rum. Beneath this illusion of paradise lies a country of distinctive contrasts of living for the occupants.…
“You will miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut” was once said by notorious author Dr. Seuss. I believe that if I would not have volunteered to be Mrs. Little’s cadet teacher I would not have opened my eyes to the education pathway. Though it may not be a perfect fit for me it is definitely one I should consider. I learned a lot from m experienced and I enjoyed working with students. I liked being able to help them understand the relationships that occur in science.…

Enabling is defined as allowing and, or helping one perform dysfunctional actions. In saying this, I would like to point out that for over two decades America has provided the middle east with the supplies, money, training, etc to enable them to grow and develop their economy. But what we haven't done is showcased how to properly use the aid to benefit the growth, and by failing to do this they have been led to a path in which they fund military instead. It would seem that America would halt or at least limit the aid, but spending has increased and more resources and aid are shipped over than ever before. These behaviors are not one of growth but one of a country that is uneducated and bound to fail.…
