First of all, when a middle school student does not get enough sleep their grades could suffer. Starting school later means students would get more sleep. Sleep is a key part in academics because when a middle school student is very well rested, they get mostly “A’s and B’s” because they are not sleepy. Most buses that get middle school students to school, also get elementary students to school too, so elementary school would have to start earlier. The elementary schools could start school earlier, or all the students that are in middle school and elementary school could have multiple fundraisers to raise money to hire more bus drivers and to buy more buses. Starting school later would make extracurricular activities harder to get homework done, participate in social activities, have time to study, and get to bed at a reasonable time.
