Race is a common factor when commenting on a person who is trying to define who they are and identify themselves in a group of people. The fact however lies that race is not a biological concept as stated by and is rather a social perception. The way one chooses to identify their race and who they are as a whole plays a part on who they are and sometimes even their social class within the life they live. Through racialization and racial formation both in and out of the Americas even Susie Phipps was able to identify that even if you have an ounce of black you are considered black in the US because it is a way to identify as a social concept and ideological process along with Omi and Winant 's thought process. My first day of middle school was hell, I have always been good at school. My grades have never been bad and neither have my actions and or attendance. Probably from having a mom that is also a teacher. I look at that as a good thing though, watching kids just goof off and not come to school then high school rolled around and it was like I got to look down on them because they did not prepare for bigger and better things. School wasn't bad for me because it was hard, it was bad because i was always shy in school.…

Every Monday and Wednesday, my afternoons are spent on the 900 block of West Union Blvd in West Bethlehem, PA. However, to be more specific the location of my field experience is Nitschmann Middle School. The school is located in the westside of the city of Bethlehem which tends to be a little more suburban in comparison to the rest of the Bethlehem Area School District. Certainly, after school there are some students that do not travel far to get to school, some houses are seconds away from the school. Before arriving at Nitschmann Middle School I already had some preconceived notions about the school.…
