Throughout the daily care of a health care facility, microsystem is continually at play. The register nurse, CNA, physical therapist, dietician all come together effectively to help the patients overall safety and health concerns of the patient needs. I spent the day shading a nurse to see how the element of the microsystem works. During this time, I recorded my observations of the nurse throughout the day such as patient care, tasks, medications, charting, and other duties.

The nurse determines which patient to visit first by prioritizing. She knew the Surgeon would be in to visit a patient whom recently had knee surgery to change the bandage. The nurse understands the surgeon needs her there to help with the dressing change and gather further information for the patient’s needs. While knowing this she prioritized herself to visit the first patient as to be free up later when the surgeon visits the patient.
The nurse’s top priority for the day included assessing her patients, checking documentations for next dose of medications, and provides comfort and safety to her patients.
