Hypothesis: A compound microscope will reveal cellular level images through magnification.
Abstract: The purpose of this lab is to acquaint nursing students to a real live laboratory setting and to introduce microscopic analysis. There were two objectives for this laboratory study: [1] Learn how to handle to microscope and familiarize its structural functions, and [2] examine real live specimens through microscopy.
Introduction
A microscope is a fundamental equipment used in observing specimens that are not visible to the naked eye due to its minuscule proportions; predominantly when observing eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells. A pathologist for example is a physician who examines cells and tissues to help other physicians make …show more content…
The buccal cells observed are therefore eukaryotic epithelial cells with the presence of the nucleus along with a cell membrane that depicts the outer boundaries of the cell and the cytoplasm, a translucent like fluid encompassing the cells organelles.
Conclusion
Exposing myself to the laboratory has provided valuable insight on microscopy. I have garnered a better understanding of the capability of the microscope to enhance the image of microscopic structures. This was an evidence based laboratory proved cells can be detected through the compound light microscope under objective magnification. The microscope is built with a wide array of multipart intricate mechanisms and fragile lenses that require specific handling and care.
Microscopes has unlocked a whole new dimension in the advancement of science and medicine. With its use, researchers have discovered microorganisms and grasped the capability to study cellular structures and molecular compositions. In medicine, it is one of the most vital diagnostic mechanisms used in analyzing tissue
