Why We Should Switch to the Metric System Why should we switch to the metric system here in the US? Well, there are lots of reasons. First and foremostly, the metric system is in tens, which we count in. This means that we can easily multiply and divide metric units. Secondly, measurements, in the metric system are derived from natural properties (of water) and relations between measurements. Lastly, the metric system uses no terms for the same meaning, nor does it use multiple units for the same type of measurement. The US should switch to the metric system, fully.
