In a universe so vast and mysterious, it is natural to feel isolated. The thought of being the only creatures with minds beautiful enough to create and destroy equally terrifies us, so we choose to believe in a greater force that is always there to help and listen. Even the most skeptical individual could agree religion was needed to structure civilization and give light to the darkness. Furthermore, the possibility of a better day gives people the strength to continue fighting and improving. A small town in Mexico conveys the astonishing effect religion triggers on people. Thus, we will explore what Catholicism means, how it affects the townspeople, and search for why they choose to be a part of it.

What would become of the isolated individuals seeking for hope and support? How would the town connect and share their stories with those of similar morals and beliefs? The town with the hope-radiating centerpiece replaced by souls in despair with no form of consolation. In other words, the townspeople find comfort in religion. Comfort that is needed to endure the ruthless obstacles that come with life. Therefore, it is not difficult to understand why an individual would welcome a culture of support and reliance. Additionally, in contrast to other places, church is not the place to judge on appearances. Neither the priest (“Padre” as said in Spanish) nor any other person will allow biased to take part in the house of god. As seen in the pictures, families and individuals are dresses in both casual and formal clothes enjoying the fresh air and blue sky. Not a single person will judge you based on piercings, tattoos, social class, or overall appearance, as long as you’re respecting their silence and prayers.
