Over the time frame of Challenger Deep Caden is becoming worse as more symptoms are developing. Caden has a mental illness that gets worse, and that illness affects Caden’s everyday school and social life. Caden’s actions worsen as his symptoms develop. Caden is having a colossal amount of horrible thoughts that people are out to hurt him. But his thoughts are becoming dreadful as the story continues.
