A big question of whether or not being raised by same sex parents affects a child’s mental health has been evaluated over the years. In some studies, being raised by gay or lesbian parents does not actually affect a child or adolescents mental health. “In this study, the children with same-sex parents had twice as many mental health issues and 17% of these children had serious emotional problems compared to 7% with different sex parents.” (CITE CBN.COM) As for bullying, there were no difference reported found in same sex and different sex families. The reasoning for children and adolescents suffering more with same sex parents is because they are being raised mostly by one biological parent rather than two. Children who are raised by both of their biological parents are said to suffer less with emotional and mental stress. A biological relationship appears to be necessary and important in the child or adolescents life because they need to have some sort of connect with their parents in order to feel more secure and have less emotional problems growing up. This is found to be worse with children who were adopted by same sex couples because they now they do not have any biological connection to either parent. In one research it was said that, “As a child comes to understand were babies come from, it is inevitable that she will wonder about her own origins, and may experience rejection or stress at the relative absence of her other parent.” (CITE national.desernews) It is important for children and adolescents growing up to have biological parents because it gives them a better understand go their family and family
