Professors should be able to prioritize working with students to illuminate the path of getting through a challenging subject or difficult concept. There is both joy and fulfillment for both the student and the professor when this occurs (Berg & Seeber, 2016, Kindle loc 682). Our students and our professors are having to deal with negative emotions and different anxieties about their performances and identities on our college campuses, and letting both of these populations (the students and the professors) abuse themselves with overwork is ruining people’s health, increasing breakdowns, and is leading both groups to dislike their respective work as a student or a teacher.
