Women usually go through menopause between the ages of 45 to 50 years old, this is the point in a women’s life when the menstrual cycle completely stops, and when women are no longer able to have babies, this is a normal part of the aging process. Hormone therapy is a type of medical treatment that can help ease the natural process of menopause. Hormone therapy uses female hormones that include estrogen and progesterone that treat symptoms of menopause during and after; it has been proven to be very effective. In young healthy woman ovaries produce the hormones estrogen and progesterone that control menstruation and ovulation. The cause of menopause is when the ovaries stop producing eggs and making the majority of their estrogen. There are various symptoms of menopause the most common one is having hot flashes, this when the temperature in your body rises and spreads, usually women begin to sweat and blush even though the actual temperature may be cool. The benefits of taking hormonal therapy is it relieves the stressful symptoms of menopause that many women suffer from. It prevents osteoporosis by preventing bone loss, lowers the risk of vision loss, lowers the risk of colon cancer, reduces cardiovascular disease, and reduces the vasomotor symptoms not long after starting treatment. Hormone therapy is flexible because it can be taken in different forms for example estrogen and progesterone come in pills, skin patches, vaginal creams, and many more depending on your menopause symptoms. When women have hot flashes at night pills or patches will significantly reduce them. Although there are many benefits of hormone therapy there are also various risks factors that come along with this type of therapy.
