My hope, is that I will continue dedicating my life to this profession through a career at Georgetown. This education included a 150-hour preceptorship on an intermediate cardiac stepdown unit at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts. During my time at Lahey, I cared for patients suffering from a myriad of cardiac conditions. This included caring for patients recovering from the treatment of AV blocks, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, acute coronary artery syndrome, and post-surgical repair of the coronary arteries. In completing this preceptorship, I learned how to analyze EKG strips, perform tracheostomy care, initiate tube feedings, and perform dressing changes, etc. …show more content…
Having had several clinical hours working on floors of this nature, I would feel most prepared to apply and build upon my existing skillset. Furthermore, I tutored the medical-surgical courses at Northeastern University, giving me the experience needed to apply critical thinking in such an area of nursing. My goal, if hired by MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, would be to immediately contribute to the workflow of the hospital, and provide patient care that is safe, and considerate of the patient’s culture, ethnic background, religion, etc. I look forward to the prospect of interviewing with you and the recruitment staff at your fine

Nurses are just as important as any physician, just because they didn't earn a PhD, nurses are still just as helpful as any doctor in the medical field.…
