a. According to the book, the cause of illness in the Native American culture is the imbalance of the supernatural, spiritual, or social implications. It may influence the treatment of type 2 diabetes because Native American believes that diabetes is cause by the food provided by whites with the intention of eliminating them.
2. Pick two regional classifications of traditional Native American cuisine. Describe the similarities and differences between these two classifications in food and their preparation.

In the southern region, they were farmers do they grew beans corn and squash like the northeastern region. They used beenuts, hazelnut, hickory nuts, pecan and black wultnuts in their cooking. They used honew to sweeten their food and they mixed it with water to cool drinks. Teas were made form mint, sassafras or spicebush. Lemonaid was made from citurs flalvored sumac berries.

3. Describe three therapeutic uses of corn and one therapeutic use of a non-corn item by Native Americans,
a. According to the book, cornmeal is sprinkled around a sick person bed to protect them from further sickness. With a mixture of water and corn ear smut, the pueblo women used it to cure irregular menstruation and diarrhea. Corn silk tea was used to cure bladder infections.
b. Pumpkin seeds were used to ease burns.
4. What is Indian fry bread? Is It a traditional food? Why or why not?
a. Fry bread is made from wheat flour fried in lard. It is not really a traditional food because all the ingredient was introduced to them by the whites. a. Agave and wound healing
b. Pumpkin and burns
7. What did you find? Is there some 'modern' evidence to support these uses? Briefly explain. In the article “Effect of an Extract of Agave americana on Wound Healing Model in Experimental Animals” it states that Agave contains tetratriacontanol and homoisoflavanoids derivatives which help reduce antibacterial. It also contains genins whis help with inflammatory. An experiment was done on animals in the study and it shows that agave can be used for healing, however; more study need to be done on it to see if it can be used as a treatment for other disorders.
In the Article “Oil from pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo L.) seeds: evaluation of its functional properties on wound healing in rats” it states that pumpkin seeds oil has many antioxidant and antimicrobial agents when extracted by cold pressure. It is also used in there pharmaceutics and cosmetics industry because it prevent skin problems. An experiment was done on rats and it shows that rats that were treated with pumpkin oil saw a better result in their wounds than those who was treated with other
