Maya Angelou is a poet writer but she was also, an actor and singer. She was born on April 4, 1928 and died on May 28, 2014. Her full name was Marguerite Annie Johnson Angelou she was born in St, Louis, Missouri and she died Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She had one kid and two husbands. She lived in a good environment. Even though she had a hard early life her poems showed her inner strength in her.
In 1961-1966 she wrote for newspapers in Egypt, Africa. Her life was good and wasn’t as bad as her early life. She started to write poems and work for newspapers and also started working on being an author and a director. She won a lot of awards as a writer, singer and actor. Maya Angelou’s uncle killed the guy that raped Maya Angelou She had to work a lot and she worked as a waitress, cook, dancer, and a prostitute because she had to take care of her child and back then you had to work really hard so you can keep your children safe and sound. She moved to Egypt and worked on newspapers there. She went to the University of Ghana and worked there for some time. She didn’t really have a social because she was always around and would always move.
Some topics that she wrote about was “Still I rise” and that poem is about that no one can tell her what to do and she won’t give up and she will rise. There were many more poems she wrote and she got famous from doing all these other poems like on the pulse of morning, women work, a brave starling truth, and Mother: A cradle to hold me. I have not read these poems yet but I bet they are really good.
Maya Angelou was famous for writing poems. She also did many more stuff like write for newspapers, actor, screenwriter, dancer and poet. Her and Martin Luther King Jr. we’re very good friends until he passed away and she was still living.
