Mattel Mission Statement

My son and I enjoy playing with Hot Wheels®. We build tracks together, race cars together and collect cars together. Therefore, when I saw the mission statement for Mattel I decided to focus on the maker of Hot Wheels® for this assignment. In this essay I will analyze the mission statement of Mattel and describe how that mission statement is reflected in the Mattel website. I plan to show how Mattel is not just about making toys for children.

Mattel’s is an interesting an organization each of its branded areas has their own mission statement for the organization. This is understandable since the board of director’s mission statement is fairly different than the company products. For this assignment we will focus on the mission statement in the corporate responsibilities part of their page (Mattel, n.d.). According to Mattel (n.d.) “Our mission is to act with integrity in all that we do, positively impacting our people, our products, and our planet by playing responsibly.” This has synergisms with Mattel’s values which is prominently displayed on their corporate pages, “play to grow · play together · play with passion · play fair” These two statements echo the culture of Mattel for playing responsible and acting fair to all

They state that the primary concern for the organization is the safety and well-being of children in the consumer responsibility section. Mattel also, feels they are responsible for the communities they sell their products in. This is shown in their philanthropy section where they show how 10,000 employees worldwide volunteer to help educate and support children around the globe. One example is how Mattel employees volunteer at the Special Olympics World games to help support children with
