In the story “The Necklace”, Mathilde Loisel should be admired for her response and her actions after she loses the necklace. At the beginning of the story, Mme. Loisel’s husband worked hard to receive an invitation to an exclusive party. First, Mme. Loisel didn’t want to attend the party because she didn’t have a dress or anything else nice to wear. Her husband then said “What a goose you are! Go find your friend, Mme. Forester, and ask her to lend you some jewelry. You know her well enough to do that.” Mme. Loisel spots a diamond necklace and decides to wear that to the ball. After the party is over, she and her husband return home, they notice that the necklace has either fallen off or has been stolen.
