Soccer is a game played by two teams of eleven players with a round ball that cannot be touched with the hands and arms by any players except the goal keepers. Soccer is a beautiful game of skill, teamwork and strategy. You may be surprised that there’s math in soccer but almost all of soccer is based on math. Soccer captures the attention of many people throughout the world. Almost all sports have math in it.

The more time they have analyzing the situation and the more experience will help them. This will help them greatly at scoring a goal quicker. Algebra can help soccer players a lot too. Acquiring knowledge that can be modeled with a quadratic function will also help soccer players. For example, A soccer ball is kicked from the ground. After 2 seconds, the ball reaches its maximum height of 20m. It lands on the ground at 4 seconds. To determine the quadratic function that models the height of that kick you first have to find what the height was at 1 second. Let “x” represent the elapsed time in seconds. Let “y” represent the height in meters. The equation is “y= a(x-h)²+ k”. The maximum height is 20m at the time of 2 seconds, so the vertex is (2,20). To determine the value of “a”, substitute the coordinates of the point that corresponds to the ball hitting the ground, (4,0). The solving for “a” equation is “f(x) = a(4-2)² =20”. The equation is “a=-5”. The quadratic function that models the height of the kick is “f(x)=
