Plan of Investigation- To do this task I gathered the data of Men’s High Jump in Commonwealth Games from 1930 to 2014. In this task I am going to collect I am going to make scatter diagrams and make a line of best fit out of the data that I will collect. I will use the different equations such as median-median line and quadratic line to find out which one fits the best to the data that I have collected. Also I will try to predict the past and future height for Men’s High jump in Commonwealth Games by the equations that I will find out. If the equation does not satisfy, I will try to find out new …show more content…
The black line is the line of best fit (linear line). The equation of the line is y=2.988x+185.64. The red line is the equation that I got by using median median line equation. The equation I got was y=2.625x+ 187.54. The slope of the black line is 2.988 and the y-intercept is 185.64. This shows that every 4 years (every Commonwealth Games) the Height for Men’s High Jump increases by 2.988cm and at the year 1950, the Height that should be achieved by gold medalists is 185.64. The slope of the red line which I found out manually is 2.625 and the y-intercept is 187.54. This shows that every 4 years (every Commonwealth Games) the Height for Men’s High Jump increases by 2.625cm and at the year 1934, the Height that should be achieved by the gold medalist is
