In recent years the world, and specifically America, has seen a rise in obese children and adults. New generations are growing up with technologies that make life simpler, many claiming that it is causing the generations to be lazy, but growing up and trying to raise a family in harsh economic times can cause a negative impact on a person’s body. Since the housing market crashed in 2008, the lifestyle of many American’s has changed. Obesity is also linked to various health issues that take place over a longer period. One health issue is that obesity in children can progress to their adulthood and pose more problems like osteoarthritis, cancers, diabetes, and heart disease. The cancers associated with obesity include cancers of the cervix, prostate, ovary, thyroid, gall, blood, pancreas, esophagus, endometrium, kidney, colon and breast among many others. Such health concerns especially for children and their adulthood in future are a sign that obesity should be dealt with in children as soon as possible to prevent the various detrimental and debilitating effects that it can have on the child as he or she grows. After breaking from dieting for a while, I realized that I’d picked up quite a bit of weight again. One of the disadvantages of being overweight was the fact that I was suffering from a bad case of what I call, Mommy FAT. The type of FAT that I gained from being pregnant, along with eating and drinking like a pig, and not working out.
