A family with income of 98,000 can expect to spend much more- up to 370,000” (Cohen 2015:327) Raising a child is expensive, parents have to be in a good social and economic position to live a good economic life with their kids. Unfortunaly, not all women nor men have the chance to be economically ready for a child. As a matter of fact, moms have to go back to work for financial reason putting their infants in child care. Child care is expensive, Infant care in the united states cost an average of 13,000 year. The raising of the cost of childcare is affecting families because many families in Chicago can’t afford them just working a minimum wage job, the cost of things is going up but the minimum wage Is not. This can affect the lower income families because putting their kids on child care may not be an option and they might have to stay home and not put any income, leaving it all the dad and making things harder. A good thing that the government can do help reduce the cost of child care is maybe instead helping and giving everything to the rich families they can give more money to our communities by taxing the rich more and raising the minimum wage, but keeping taxes low. In my community, they did a new early child development center, in this center they offer like a type of child care with pre-kinder classes. Here, parents from the community can drop off their kids and it’s kind of like a school, but with low cost or not cost at all. Another service that I can talk about is the one that I was myself in, I was in a day care where it was all through the medical card. This day care ran all year long, it was intended to help parents out who couldn’t afford day care and to also tutor
