Mason’s Journey
The arrival of winter was well on its way. The abundance of colorful leaves were scattered thought the city of Westpoint, Oklahoma. Mason was on his way home from school when he encountered a sickening feeling in his stomach, something was not right he thought to himself. Three weeks earlier, was Mason’s 17th birthday. He had dark hair, and eyes the color of the sea. He went to Westpoint High school, and enjoyed everything about it. He recently had failed two of his exams, but wasn’t too worried about it because he knew that he could eventually bring his grade up to passing. Then the dreaded letter came in the mail. There was one last person he desired to see. He drove up to the small red brick house. The porch light was on and he could see a light in the kitchen. Mason knocked on the door to get the man’s attention, and then the door swung open with a small creak. His friend was the family pastor who had been in Mason life as long as he could remember. The pastor had always been very kind to Mason, and loved to spend extra time with anyone that needed him. He was a remarkable person who always had good advise. The friendly ear to ear grin of the pastor had always been a welcoming sight to Mason, and after a long visit full of prayer, Mason made his way home for a good nights …show more content…
It would be a chilly day, with frost covering masons house like a blanket. Mason packed his bags and went downstairs for one last breakfast with his family before he left. Mason’s mom made them an especially good breakfast that mourning. The bacon was perfectly crispy, and the smell of eggs and French toast filled the house. The biscuits were as light and fluffy as ever, with fresh honey dripping down the sides. Soon it was time to go, and Mason went out to load his bags into his dads blue pickup truck. The long ride to the airport was long and quiet with only a few short-lived conversations in which Mason continuously told his parents not to worry, and he would be safe. It was still very early and not many cars where out on the road this Saturday mourning. When they get to the airport Mason got his bags checked, goes through security, and makes his way to his terminal. He boards the plane and before he knows it, the plane takes off with his parents watching his from the terminal window. It was a long quite journey. The airplane landed on time and an armed car was waiting to take him to the army base. After collecting his bags, he was nervously on his way. A new page of his life was about to
