The table below illustrates some examples of Maslow's needs in home and work situation. For work situations in physiological needs which consist of physical comfort on the job and base salary. When the physiological needs are met, safety need is activated. It consists of job security and health insurance coverage. The next level is needed of belonging. The need of belonging to the workplace can be come from colleagues, clients, supervisor and subordinates. It is all about relationship and friendship. At fourth level, the need of self-esteem is where people are looking for higher status, responsibilities on important job and achievement, in order to be respected and recognised by superiors. After all four needs are satisfied, self-actualisation is activated. This idea indicates that the company and employees must first discuss their needs and then employees contribute their best effort in service and generate value in the company, on the other hand, the human resource department or the company should ensure that the employees' level of needs is attained. Thus, cultural framework of a company should always reflect employees' needs, whereas physiological and safety needs are the first and most important. Employees' performance will be improved when these needs are culturally focused on the company. Greenberg and Baron (2003) agreed that this theory is allowed managers to lead their employees to become self-actualised. Therefore, Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory is useful and important in today's business organisation.
