About 800,000 times a year, citizens turn to guns and blunt weapons for safety. However, almost 600,000 or 75% of Americans turn to the handgun. Handguns are smaller, mobile, and easier to obtain because of price and training. Handguns are the most effective tool for self defense because they have more range, more power and more protection.
