Imagine, just for a second, the Earth without any people. Just let you imagination create this beautiful place where all creature are at its naturally given place. Don’t be selfish! Just imagine it and you can go back to being self-centered and ungrateful in a second. Imagine the perfect tranquility in a chaotic, natural sequence of events. Imagine standing in the middle of the rainforest and looking at world through a tiny drop of dew that’s sitting on the patal of an orchid. Perfect, right? However, it’s looks upside down. You know what else is necessary? Mars colonization. This is funny, isn’t it? According to NASA Administrator Charles Bolden “And so if this species is to survive indefinitely, we need to become a multi-planet species. So one reason we need to go to Mars is so we can learn a little about living on another planet, so when Mikaley, my granddaughter, is ready to move out of the solar system we’ll know a lot more about living away from this planet than we know today.” How ridiculous is this? Don't get me wrong, I’m very interested in space exploration and find it breathtaking, but some people just have all the wrong reasons for becoming multi- planet species. Even if we manages to find a way to colonize other planets it wouldn’t be for everyone. Elon Musk estimated that one way trip to Mars would cost approximately ten billion dollars per person. Only 130 people would be able to afford it, Elon Musk being one of them. At the 67th Nation Astronautical Congress Elon Musk said the following: “I think there are really two fundamental paths. History is going to bifurcate along two directions. One path is we stay on Earth forever and then there will be some eventual extinction event. I don't have an immediate doomsday prophecy, but eventually history suggests there will be some doomsday event. The alternative is to become a space-faring civilization and a multi planet species, which I hope you agree that is the right way to go.” …show more content…
However, both will have a positive effect on our planet. It will take a very long time, but it will happen. As of right now, we could be less selfish and stop wasting the limited resources that our planet provides for us. Even though it’s too late in the game to reverse the process of climate change and air pollution, we could slow it down. Basically we are all hypocrites and murderers who pretend to care about our environment, but every time we get the change and think that no one sees us, we do something that kills a child in a third world country or causes some animal or plant to extinct. So, next time you forget to turn the lights off or waste paper or throw plastic out, remember that you are responsible, even for a fraction, for all the disasters that will happen. After All, we are the most intelligent creatures on the planet and should take responsibility of our own actions. Have a good

On April 28, 1992, Chris McCandless stepped foot into the woods, a journey that would last four months, coming to an end much earlier than he would’ve hoped. In August of 1992, just four months after Chris walked alone into the wild, his perishing body was found by a party of moose hunters. Chris went into the wild hoping to get away from corrupt society and to live a transcendentalist lifestyle. His bold journey was going well until he made a silly mistake when he came across seeds from the wild potato. The seeds themselves are not what killed Chris, it was the amino acids in the seeds that caused him to slowly become paralyzed due to his malnutrition and physical state.…

Fifty-six hours into NASA’s third attempt to land on the moon, Houston radioed the spacecraft with a seemingly-innocent request. Following NASA’s instructions, the astronauts turned on the hydrogen and oxygen stirring fans in order to obtain more accurate readings. Two minutes later, an oxygen tank exploded. Electrical power and the altimeter readings began to fluctuate wildly. Communications were briefly lost.…

An explorer can be defined as a person who ventures into unfamiliar territory. The term “explorer” is very vague for a number of reasons. First, the definition can imply to anyone who ventures outside of one’s own comfort zone. This can apply to a man that likes to study science, or a woman that applies for a job, even to a kid who likes to travels outside their neighborhood. Clearly, these examples go against common intuition when someone thinks of Indiana Jones and Jack Sparrow.…

The Space Debate Whether or not America should be funding space exploration, namely the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), does not really get debated much. However, when this subject is brought into question people tend to take a strict stance on one side or the other. It is easy to dismiss the entire objective of putting man in space as a waste of time and resources, but that could not be further from the truth. Space exploration stimulates technological innovation and provides a clear path for economic growth. Defunding NASA would be counter productive and only slow America's overall long-term economic progress; if anything NASA's budget should be increased rather than decreased.…
