Women played a major role in the 1800’s. No matter the diversity in society, women were still very efficient in what they did, however, being a woman had a negative outlook attached to it through a man's perspective, which then created and progressed unfair, and unequal treatment of married women in the late 1800’s. Throughout the late 1800’s, married women were treated unfairly due to their unequal work opportunities, right to vote, and gender outlook.
Firstly, an intriguing reason as to why women were treated unfairly, was their unequal work opportunities. As a women in the late 1800’s, there was always a dominant look from men to women throughout society. Opposers say that, “ a woman's place in life was at home”, which moreover, is a pre-judged biased opinion. Although voting was suppose to be equal for all, the women didn't get the luxury of participating in that manner.Library of Congress writes, “During the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, women and women's organizations not only worked to gain the right to vote, they also worked for broad-based economic and political equality and for social reforms”(Library 1). Showing that it not only took an enormous effort for women to be recognized in society, but to prove that the rights for men should be equal for all gender.
