While the Army does not train recruits on either of those things. The main reason the Army does not train water survival to recruits is because they are primarily a land force, and water survival training is taught to certain units and special operations. Bayonet training is still taught to Marines because it’s of their heritage, the Army discontinued bayonet training during the year 2010.
While the Marine Corps is kind of a land force in current wars, they are still an Amphibious/Expeditionary force. The Marines also have proven that their tougher training, size of their branch, and being the first to fight proves they are a very elite branch. I compared these two branches to show their histories and compare the types of forces they are. I respect all branches equally, though I originally joined the Army Delayed Entry Program, I decided I wanted to get out so I could join the Marine Corps Delayed Entry
