The opportunity for travel, education, and the respect of your peers is what drew me to it most. It also offers me discipline and structure which I feel I am sometimes lacking in my life. The Marines are going to help set me up for the rest of my life, and they could help you too!

So a hard skill would be being able to fire your rifle decisively, and effectively. During my internship, one of the first things my sponsor told me was, the Navy JAG Corps is full of good people, doing good work. I found that statement to be true throughout my summer at the Washington Navy Yard as the individuals I worked with were talented, passionate, and genuinely kind. Those traits made them good at their jobs. But, the people I worked with were not only doing good work in the sense that they performed exceptionally, the work they did was truly good in nature, as it helped their fellow service members, contributed to military…

It has taught me the importance of discipline, unity, and respect for authority. While growing with the program, my aspirations and dreams were fed and grew as well. Rather than earning the title of United States Marine as an enlisted personnel, a fire burned within to seek to become an officer among these elite…

There are many reasons why I have decided to enroll in the Army ROTC program. The first reason is structure. By my freshman year I still did not have a clue what I wanted to do in life; however, once I started JROTC I began to get an idea of how the military actually works, and I liked it. A person is given authority based on the rank they have earned, and information is passed up and down the chain of command so that everyone is informed of what is happening and what needs to be changed. The second reason is all of the benefits such as medical insurance, housing allowances, and 30 day paid vacation.…

One aspect of military service that could play a role in political ideology is “branch culture”. Each branch has a unique culture and mission that it corresponds with. The political ideology differences could be rooted in the popular reputation that each unique branch portrays and what type of recruit is drawn to these branches. For example, “The mission of the United States Air Force is to fly, fight, and win…in the air, space, and cyberspace. To achieve that mission the Air Force has a vision of Global Vigilance, Reach and Power (U.S. Air Force: Enlisted Overview).”…

When I was younger I always played pretend that I was in the military doing heroic deeds to save hundreds of people and those that I loved. I think my interest into the military was sparked when I found out that both my grandfathers had been in the Army during the Vietnam conflict, I always tried to get them to talk about their days in the service but they would never talk to me about it. One of my grandfathers was an interrogations officer and the other was a military police officer. There was also this electrician that I met where his dream was to be a tank operator but his family convinced him to change his mind and he told me that it was his biggest mistake listening to his family instead of going into the service. I chose the Army because…

The medical community has been a large influence in my life quite literally since birth. I attended my father’s college graduation as a young child and studied with him throughout medical school.
