The people of Maabar wear no clothing except for a piece of scrap cloth to cover their private parts. The king doesn’t wear anything as well except for a necklace that has 104 beads. Each morning he says 104 prayers in honor of his idols which also symbolizes the beads. The king also has 500 wives; which Marco Polo refers to as concubines. It is noted that whenever the king sees a woman he is interested in; he takes her for himself. Unlike many of the other countries, Maabar does not breed horses. When a man dies, his body is cremated and his wife flings herself into the same fire and lets herself be burnt with her husband. It is believed that the woman who engage in this practice are highly praised by all. Anther very bizarre practice the people of Maabar practice is that they only eat with their right hand. Their reasoning behind this is they believe that the right hand should only touch things that are clean and fair and the left hand is used for needful tasks that are unclean and
