I have experienced a variety of educational settings as an educator. These experiences include North Paulding High School, Hiram High School, Mount Zion High School - Carroll County, Dublin Middle School, and Johnson County High School all as band director. My duties at both high school and middle school positions included design and implementation of curriculum, directing marching and concert bands, and administrative responsibilities. Paulding County School District is located in Dallas, Georgia and is one of the fastest growing public school districts in the state of Georgia. Paulding County is witnessing growth as a bedroom community for Cobb County, and to a lesser extent the city of Atlanta. No interstate highway runs through the county. At Hiram, I served as the Assistant Director of Bands. In this capacity, I was the conductor of the Hiram High School Concert Band. Furthermore, I served as the Assistant Director of the Hiram High School Band of Gold Marching Band. I had further teaching duties that included assisting and directing the Hiram High School Symphonic Band and various middle school band programs throughout the Paulding County School District. Dr. Ron Davis was the head band director at Hiram High School. I utilized Dr. Davis as my role model for what band director should do in an attempt to attain my career goals. He was my high school band director at Paulding County High School. I enjoyed working with Dr. Davis and learned a great deal about teaching from him. The Hiram Band of Gold has a great heritage and tradition that cannot be matched by any other organization. Band competitions were my favorite events with the Hiram Band. I loved seeing the Hiram band students’ hard work pay off in the many awards they received at competitions. Working to maintain and preserving that
